All About Chia Seed Pudding

Chia pudding has become a popular breakfast and snack option these days. It’s very simple to make and is easily modifiable making it a fun and easy dish to prepare.

Popular amongst those following a plant-based diet, chia is a good source of protein, healthy fats, and fiber so if you haven’t added it to your diet yet, what are you waiting for?

Chia naturally expands when it is combined with milk or yogurt rendering your pudding into a thick and rich texture.

Variations of This Pudding Recipe

  • The options for chia pudding are endless!
  • Add a teaspoon of cinnamon, some espresso powder, or matcha green tea powder.
  • Mix in a tablespoon of peanut or almond butter. Seed butter works well too so you can use pumpkin or sunflower if there is a nut allergy.
  • Top the chia pudding with some muesli, granola, or plain oats. You can also mix this in before blending it but I prefer to use oats as a topping.
  • Chop up some dates and add them for more sweetness.
  • Substitute honey or agave if you don’t have any maple syrup. Though if you want to keep the chia pudding vegan don’t use honey.
  • Up the protein and add a tablespoon of your favorite protein powder. Any flavor will work, though I think vanilla or plain will work best. Hemp seeds will also add some protein as well as healthy fats and fiber.
  • For chocolate chia pudding add a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder and blend with the other ingredients.
  • Sprinkle in some ground flax seeds to increase the fiber content.

  • If using frozen blackberries let them soften slightly before placing them in the blender.
  • Make a double batch so you have got a delicious and healthy breakfast or snack all week.
  • For a thicker and creamier consistency use more yogurt than milk.
  • Portion the chia pudding in small mason jars for a portable snack-sized treat.
