All About S’Mores
The Girl Scouts made the s’mores famous when they printed the recipe in their manual, almost 100 year ago. However, originally called the “Graham Cracker Sandwich”, the s’more had its roots long before that!
Many versions of the s’more were created over the centuries, including one recipe in the Victorian era that included funnel cakes topped with chocolate and marshmallows! At any rate, the s’mores get their name because they’re so yummy, everyone wants, ‘some more’!
Recipe Variations
- Reese Cup S’Mores – You can use Resse’s Peanut-Butter Cups instead of Hersey’s Chocolate if you prefer to make a peanut butter s’more.
- Chocolate – Any kind of melting chocolate will do. Hershey Bars tend to be the classic, but were big fans of Dairy Milk, too.
- Marshmallows – Large or Jumbo work best for making s’mores. Mini marshmallows are too small.
- Graham Crackers – You can use chocolate grahams or cinnamon grahams for this recipe.
Tips, Tricks, and Recipe Notes

- Need a dairy and gluten-free option? You can pick up vegan and gluten-free graham crackers as well as vegan marshmallows. You can also find dairy-free chocolate, at your grocery store.
